VICAR GENERAL

The Office of the Vicar General shares some of the authority of the Bishop, particularly in granting dispensations and other matters stated in Church law. He serves as as a member of the Diocesan Corporate Board.

CHANCELLOR
serves as the Chief Archivist of the diocesan records, and is the secretary of the Diocesan Corporate Board.

COORDINATOR OF STAFF
is the Bishop's Chief of Staff. This Office supervises all the activities of diocesan staff, serves as liaison to the Diocesan Pastoral Council, coordinates the diocesan planning of the Committee on Parishes, and provides consultation to parishes   on human resources, planning, and pastoral councils.

FINANCE
handles the daily business and financial matters of the diocese. This includes the management of all accounting, budgeting, employee benefits, insurance, and diocesan property and assets. This office also provides consultation to parishes in stewardship, financial planning matters and cemetery matters.

 

 

PRIEST PERSONNEL
coordinates the official assignment of priests and provides professional services for the priests of the diocese. The office also maintains records of all active and retired priests in the diocese.

DEVELOPMENT

oversees the development and planned giving activities of the diocese. The office conducts the annual Diocesan Ministries Appeal each

November and collaborates with Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of New Ulm to offer various vehicles for gift annuities,

charitable gifts, and endowments.

TRIBUNAL

directs the Church processes which examine the sacramentality or validity of marriages which have ended in civil divorce as well as other canonical consultation. The office coordinates

safe environment compliance and training throughout the diocese. The formal diocesan mediation process is also facilitated by the office.






SUPERVISOR OF PASTORAL ADMINISTRATORS
works with parishes in preparation for the hiring process, with internship training, and with the appointment process. The supervisor meets regularly with all the pastoral administrators and interns in the diocese on a monthly basis. The supervisor also assists the priests who serve as sacramental ministers in parishes with pastoral administrators.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR CLERGY

coordinates opportunities for the professional and personal growth of priests and other pastoral personnel. The office conducts programs such as semi-annual Pastoral Leader Days,

annual Priests’ Retreat, sabbaticals as well as workshops and study programs. The certification

process for lay ecclesial ministers is also coordinated.

VOCATIONS
promotes efforts to call people to service in the Church, particularly in priesthood and religious life. The office fosters and develops the formation of seminarians throughout their years of training and preparation and coordinates seminary internships and transitional deaconate ministry in the diocese.

 

PERMANENT DIACONATE

The Office of the Permanent Diaconate conducts the recruitment and evaluation of deacon candidates as well as directs the aspirancy and formation programs in conjunction with Saint Meinrad Seminary. The director meets regularly with the deacons to monitor their ministerial assignments, continuing education, and spiritual formation.
