AFC plan for Darwin and Forest City approved only four yet to complete their plans

Bishop John C. Nienstedt has approved the Area Faith Community plan for Darwin-Forest City. The new plan is:

REGION 6

Church of St. John, Darwin and St. Gertrude, Forest City

WORD

• Coordinate religious education in-services and share catechists and resources as appropriate
• Offer joint adult faith formation opportunities
• Collaborate on and share opportunities for youth ministry

WORSHIP

• Develop joint minister training
• Develop a Mass schedule that is acceptable to both parishes
• Unite our people through the area mission
• Continue and combine the current ecumenical activity of both parishes

SERVICE

• Establish an Area Social Concerns Committee
• Explore joint service projects
• Create social events to bring together area parishioners

STEWARDSHIP

• Establish an Area Pastoral Council
• Cooperate on joint resources and expertise
• Combine purchasing power of the Area Faith Community
• Develop common communications

Only four (4) of the twenty-three (23) Area Faith Communities are still completing their plans. The plans should be submitted to the Committee on Parishes within the next several months. The four remaining AFC’s are:

Region 2 - Morton-Redwood Falls

Region 3 - Ivanhoe-Lake Benton-Tyler-Wilno

Region 4 - Beardsley-Graceville

Region 6 - Glencoe-Silver Lake
