International Eucharistic Congress - From June 15 to 22, 2008.

The 49th International Eucharistic Congress will take place in Quebec City, Canada. An International Eucharistic Congress is a gathering of the universal Church, in order to celebrate Jesus living and present in the Eucharist, the source and summit of evangelization and center of the life of the Church. A diocesan Church invites other Churches, with the approval of the Pope, to this time of prayer, of reflection and of commitment. Pope Benedict XVI has been invited to this Congress and has said that he hopes to attend. The theme of the Congress is "The Eucharist, gift of God for the life of the world," and a rich variety of activities will help pilgrims to embrace this theme through solemn liturgies, catechesis, special activities for youth and families, and various artistic and cultural events. More information can be found at www.cei2008.ca Individuals or parish groups wishing to attend this Eucharistic Congress should consider notifying the Diocesan Office of Worship. If there is sufficient interest in coordinating a Diocesan delegation, a first meeting can be scheduled for early September.
